I had followed the author, Shaun, for a while but had never realised he was gay – the fact that he's so successful in his field but doesn't pigeonhole himself into only talking about his sexuality is inspiring to me as an LGBTQ+ athlete myself. I had just broken onto the Elite Track and Field scene and then had a serious injury – I was looking for books to motivate me to build up my mental and physical strength.
